Mar. 24th, 2007 10:49 amWe made the best of our anniversary. :) We went out for burgers with the girls, then to Publix to pick up a cake to celebrate. (I had plans to bake one during the afternoon, but the freezer incident took the wind out of my sails.) Amelia was thrilled that there would be Actual Cake! in the house.
We ate the cake after singing "Happy Birthday" (Amelia insisted we do so). It was so very sweet and tasty. We headed outside to enjoy the sunset and do a bit of light weeding. It also gave Amelia a chance to run off some of the sugar. (Katie ate yogurt and Trader O's for dinner. Her dessert was a nice cold bottle of breastmilk. Mmm!)
The girls were bathed, read to, and put down for the night. Tom tackled the freezer. Everything was a loss except for a few coffee cakes that Tom's mother made and our Thin Mints stockpile. The savable items were all cleaned throughly and rebagged. I took care of that while Tom washed the inside of the freezer with a bleach/water solution.
Our great loss was the breastmilk freezer stash. I had a small cry during the afternoon then got over it. She's 9 days away from being a year old, so it's not as critical. I'm sad that I don't have it in the event I have to leave town suddenly, but wishing won't make it come back.
Our evening finished off with me taking a Benadryl to counteract my skin itching like mad (from being outside so much) and watching part of "The State Within" that I Tivo'ed off of BBCAmerica. Whee!
Right now, Katie's walking one of the dining room chairs around the house. Amelia and Tom are outside weeding. We hope to take the girls out for some park time today. I found an absurdly cool kite at Costco yesterday, so we may try to get that up.
